Search your
home, both inside and out. Your pet might be in a
place he/she can't get out such as a closet with the
door shut or stuck in a drain pipe.
Walk around your neighborhood.
When doing this, be sure to call your pet’s name. If they are
in the area, they will hear you and know your voice. Make any
other noise your pet is familiar with.
It's also important to stop regularly,
be quiet, and listen for your pet to make a noise in reply.
Go to
neighbors asking them if they have seen your pet. If they
don’t know what your pet looks like, give them a flyer with
picture, if available.
Make flyers
to put on bulletin boards, such as the post office, stores, feed
stores,
Contact the
El Dorado County Animal
Shelter.
Someone may have dropped off your pet there. If not, there is
an on-line flyer
(Lost Animal Report) you can print, fill out, and fax or
bring to the shelter. Check the animal shelter every day or
every other day. If someone took your pet into their home for a
few days hoping you would knock on their door and ask about it,
they might later drop off your pet at the shelter.
If you lost a CAT, call Animal
Outreach in Diamond Springs. The address is 6200
Enterprise Dr. Phone number is 530-642-2287.

Be
particularly wary of people who insist you give or wire
them money for the return of your pet.
Most importantly, don't give up. Pets can be found weeks or
months after they disappear. Good luck! If you do find
your pet, please let me know and I will update the Web site.
