My family
and I live in Somerset on three acres. Having
animals has always been a part of our lives, and we
love each and every one of them very much. We have
two ducks, numerous chickens, three cats, two dogs,
and a horse. Most of our animals were strays that
were dropped off at the end of our driveway or
abandoned by a family that had moved.
In all our
years of animal ownership we lost -- and luckily
found -- two of our dogs. We spent all of our time
and energy looking for them, and to our “relief” we
found them two weeks later. However, during this
time we felt helpless. We were always wondering if
they were safe, hurt, hungry or (dread the thought)
dead. Not knowing where they were was an awful and
depressing feeling.
Whenever I
see a flyer regarding a lost or found pet, I always
feel sorry for both the family and their beloved pet
and wonder if they were ever reunited, always
reflecting back on what my family went through. In
some of the flyers the families express their love
and how much they miss their pet; some pets even
need medication or have physical ailments that need
treatment.
In my
sadness I wondered what I could do to help reunite
pets and their families, trying to offer an
additional tool to help people locate their lost
pet. One of the ways is through the Internet, which
for many people is their main source of receiving
and sharing information. To that end, I decided to
design this Web site.
